Fashion

Current fashion trends govern the type of clothes you buy, but to dress well and feel confident about what you are wearing there are certain guide rules which should be followed. Before buying ask yourself;

• Is it a color I can wear?

• Will this new item fit into my existing wardrobe and team with the dress and coat me shall be wearing with it?

• Does it fit properly and hang well?

• Does the style suit me as an individual: does it flatter my particular figure?

• Have I accessories to team with it, or must I buy new ones?

• Is it a good buy, and will I be able to wear it often?

• Dress Sense: When buying a complete new outfit, know what you are looking for, and know what suits you and flatters you. Points to remember:

• If you are tall You can wear dramatic clothes, bright colors, exaggerated styles, large prints, wide brimmed hats, large handbags. To lessen your height, choose horizontal stripes, not vertical ones, clothes which cut across the figure, broad belts, contrasting tops, and three-quarter jackets.

Flat- heeled shoes do not necessarily reduce the appearance of height. Wear the heel height you feel most comfortable in so that you balance well and walk tall.

• If you are plump

Avoid large patterns, horizontal stripes, very vivid colors, bunchy skirts or very tight ones which over-emphasize the width of your hips. Do not wear very short skirts; an extra inch in length can make hips look two inches slimmer.

Avoid wide belts, gathers and frills, as these add bulk. Avoid tight sweaters, materials that cling, high necklines and big collars.

• If you are thin

Exactly the opposite of if you are plump, you can wear bright colors, large prints; horizontal stripes or full skirts.

• Color

The colors you wear can affect how you look, so study your complexion, and dress in colors that flatter.

• Sallow complexion. Choose warm pinks, flaming reds, warm tans and orange shades, blue-greens. Avoid yellows and browns; grey and black.

• Very pale: Choose glowing reds and pinks, bright oranges and yellows, pastel shades. Avoid dark green, browns and purples.

• Pink complexion: Choose black, shades of blue, lavender, purple, greens and grey. Avoid bright pink, bright red, orange or yellow, these will make you look florid.

• FITTING:

Choose materials which hang well and keep their shape. Avoid over-tight clothes which will wrinkle and crease and lose their shape because seams are stretched.

Skirts and dresses hang better and last longer if they are lined, half-lining will help avoid seating in a straight skirt. When buying a dress or coat, look for smooth fitting over the shoulders. Collars should fit evenly, and lie well. Collarless necklines should be free of bulges. Avoid necklines that gape.
